Ministry of the Environment
Mgr. Lukáš Záruba works as the director of the Department of Water Protection at the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic. He studied at the Faculty of Management of the University of Economics and subsequently graduated with a master's degree from the Faculty of Law of Charles University in Prague. He specializes in environmental law and environmental impact assessment. Since 2009 he has been working at the Ministry of the Environment. Until 2015, he worked in the Legislation Department, and subsequently became the Head of the SEA Department (Environmental Impact Assessment) until 2017, before joining the Director of the Water Protection Department. He was a member of a group of experts from EU member states, where he dealt with a project to support the Ministry of Environmental Protection in Ukraine for the implementation of the law on environmental audit. For example he also participate in a presentation of Czech practice concerning the application of SEA and EIA in connection with the assessment under the Water Framework Directive.
