Water Management Technical and Economical Information Journal (VTEI Journal)

ISSN 0322–8916, On-line ISSN 1805-6555

The journal Vodohospodářské technicko-ekonomické informace (VTEI) is the only peer-reviewed professional periodical in the Czech Republic that focuses on publishing research results in the field of water and waste.

VTEI has been continuously published by T. G. Masaryk Water Research Institute, p. r. i., since 1959; between 1999 and 2015, it was published as an independent supplement to the Vodní hospodářství (Water management) journal on the basis of an agreement between their publishers, while the editors and editorial boards were separate. Since 2015, VTEI has again been published as an independent scientific journal with a periodicity of six issues per year with its own web presentation.

The VTEI journal has a distinct multidisciplinary character, as it covers a wide area of water management from hydrology, hydrogeology, hydraulics, hydrobiology, hydrochemistry, hydroinformatics, cartography in water management, radioecology, applied ecology, via water technology, water industry, wastewater treatment, waste management, restoration, water quality, pollution control, to the economics of water management or social issues related to water and the sustainable use of water resources. In addition to original scientific and review (state of the art) studies and discussion articles, the journal also publishes data articles, reviews, and informative articles about projects, symposia, conferences and exhibitions, as well as interviews with important figures in the field.

The research results published in VTEI in Open Access mode relate primarily to the Czech and Slovak Republics, as well as the Central European area, but with a wider international reach, especially in the Elbe, Danube, and Oder basins. They are primarily intended for professionals from scientific and research institutions and companies operating in the field of water management and waste, but also for representatives of state and public administration, regional self-government, and the wider professional and lay public. These articles inform readers about the results of current research and thus significantly contribute to finding solutions for the consequences of climate change, water pollution, and disruption of ecological balance in the aquatic environment.

The publication languages of the journal are Czech, Slovak, and English. The fact that scientific articles go beyond the definition of Czech and Slovak, as well as of the Central European area, led to the decision in 2022 to publish a complete English version of the journal on its website. In the printed version, which is mainly intended for distribution in the Czech and Slovak Republics, articles are published in Czech or Slovak. Articles in Czech or Slovak and their English translation are available online on the vtei.cz website.

The journal is listed in the List of peer-reviewed non-impact periodicals published in the Czech Republic, approved by the Council for Research, Development and Innovation (RVVI).

Open Acces

VTEI is an open access journal. Publishing and reading articles are both free of charge, which means all its content is freely available without charge to the user or his/her institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author as long as they cite the source.

VTEI Journal operates under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International Licence CC-BY-NC. This allows others to distribute, remix, tweak, and build upon the work, non-commercially, as long as they credit the authors for the original creation. All authors publishing in VTEI Journal accept these as the terms of publication.

Journal archiving

VTEI journal is archived by the National Library of the Czech Republic. Archiving takes place four times a year. Authors who publish in VTEI may also archive versions of their papers in institutional or other repositories of their choice. The journal editors and publisher recommend that authors actively increase the impact of their articles by storing them in institutional and community repositories or on academic social networks such as ResearchGate or Academia.edu.
